What Bitcoin, Virtual Economies, and Automation, can do for the future of Work
I spoke on this subject in my very first Medium post. Since then, I have been able to take a step back and watch the movement of society as well as the cryptocurrency community. I was also able to listen to some podcasts to get an idea of the current mindset and ideas of the cryptocurrency community. One area that they have been harping on is that our current economic system is unsustainable and that cryptocurrency will be the future of money and the only way to turn. Although I don’t agree with the way bitcoin is currently explained or used, I can understand why those in that community hold these beliefs. One thing I do believe is that Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies have and will have a major role to play in the future of our economy. I think the purpose of Bitcoin will ultimately be as a converter of currencies from virtual labor. This concept is very difficult for me to verbalize since it has not been explicitly said by anyone I could find online. However, I will do my best to piece every aspect of this idea together into something worthwhile.
First I would like to acknowledge that currently cryptocurrencies are being used and utilized by members of society in large numbers. The legitimacy of the currency I will not speak on.
